A Reader’s Guide to Augustine’s De Libero Arbitrio

Abstract

In this work a reading guide of the De libero arbitrio is offered. In the dialogue, shortly after his conversion, Augustine questions the nature and the origin of moral evil, showing that God cannot be considered the author of the voluntary evil for having given man the gift of free will. God, the creator and supreme administrator of all things, should therefore be thought of not only as good and omnipotent, but also just.
