Starting from the analysis of two studies by Sergio Cotta, referable to the scientific area of ‘Law and Religion’, this essay focuses on the link between the essence of justice and the existence of the human being. In order to reflect on justice and its essence, the starting point — at the time already chosen by the scholar — is the experiential datum that highlights the structure of the human being and the needs for justice inherent in the interpersonal relationships between men, subjects who, as Cotta reminds us, are intra-world beings, able to transcend their ontic condition.
